Privacy Policy — Sober Star
Last updated: July 23, 2026
Sober Star ("we", "our", "the app") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Sober Star is a self-care habit-tracking app and does not provide medical advice or treatment.
Information We Collect
- Email address (optional): collected only if you choose to create an account to sync your data across devices. If you use the app without an account, no email is collected.
- App activity: your streak history, daily check-ins, and journal notes. This data is stored locally on your device by default, and is only synced to our secure cloud backend (Supabase) if you opt in to account sync.
- Purchase history: subscription status (Pro Monthly / Pro Yearly) is handled entirely by Google Play Billing. We do not collect or store your payment card details — Google processes all payment information directly.
How We Use Your Information
- To save and restore your progress, streaks, and journal entries.
- To sync your data across devices if you have created an account.
- To verify and manage your Pro subscription status.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use your data for advertising.
Data Storage & Security
By default, your data is stored locally on your device. If you create an account, your data is stored securely with Supabase, our backend provider. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time (see below).
Your Rights
- You can use Sober Star fully without creating an account, in which case all data stays only on your device.
- You can request deletion of your account and cloud-stored data at any time — see our Account Deletion page.
- You can uninstall the app at any time to remove all locally stored data.
Crisis & Support Resources
Sober Star provides quick access to crisis support resources, including the SAMHSA National Helpline (1-800-662-4357) and the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (988). These are provided for convenience; Sober Star is not affiliated with these organizations and is not a substitute for professional medical or mental health care.
Children's Privacy
Sober Star is not intended for use by children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
